Call For Submissions:

Blurred Books is producing a series of anthologies of new narrative art entitled Blurred Vision.

For Blurred Vision, we are seeking experimental, alternative and/or underground work by both emerging and established artists operating at the intersection of art and comics. Submissions may be anywhere from one page to twenty-eight pages in length, and should not have been previously published (with the exception of self-publishing, which is fine).

Submissions may be made via email, as screen resolution JPEG files (no more than 600 x 800 pixels per page), via an emailed link to an existing website where the work is displayed, or via photocopied submissions. Please include an SASE for any materials you wish to have returned. If you submit via snail mail, please include an email address, as receipt notification will be sent electronically.

Submissions for Blurred Vision 3 have now closed. Submissions for Blurred Vision 4 will be accepted until December 31st, 2007. Send Submissions to:

Royalties:

Royalties from work published in Blurred Vision will be set at a rate of 10% of wholesale proceeds from the sale of the book divided proportionally according to each contributor's percentage of total editorial page content. If a contributor provides ten pages for the final publication and the total number of editorial pages is ninety, the contributor's royalty will be one ninth of 10% of wholesale proceeds from the sale of the book.

Royalties will be paid on a quarterly basis, except during quarters during which there are no sales to report, and will be accompanied by a statement of sales.

Contracts:

Contributors whose work is selected will be emailed a PDF format contract to review. The contract will set out a non-exclusive term of five years during which Blurred Books may print and re-print the selected work, with the contributor retaining all other rights, including the right to publish the work elsewhere.

Print Requirements for Accepted Submissions:

If a submission is accepted, PODpublishing will require it to be provided in digital form, on a CD or DVD-ROM, ready to print. Each page will need to be in TIFF file format, with no extra channels or layers. Each file will need to be in one of two color spaces: either grayscale at 300 dpi, or bitmap at 600 or 1200 dpi. If desired, texts may be provided as vector information by special arrangement. The live area of each page should be sized no larger than 7.5 x 10" with no bleeds.

(Blurred Books will make every effort to assist contributors who are unfamiliar with digital imaging, so don't let the above scare you off).
